About I Ching Stream
I Ching Stream is the first platform to systematically bring classical I Ching divination texts into English, serving as the English home and toolkit for China's orthodox divinatory arts. We close the gap by preserving original theory and methods and delivering them in clear, precise English.
Who We Are
The English Home for China's Orthodox Divinatory Arts
I Ching Stream is the first English-language platform dedicated to systematically translating the core classical texts of Chinese I Ching divination into English.
We preserve the authentic framework of classical Chinese divination and make this tradition accessible through professional translations, practical tools, and structured study paths for serious readers worldwide.
Why We Start with Practice
Learning Through Doing
The Yi is easier to understand through doing. As a classical saying puts it, "未学易,先学筮" (To learn the I Ching, begin with casting). Among practical methods, I Ching Six Lines Divination (Liu Yao, Wen Wang Gua, based on the Na Jia Method) is the most widely used in China today.
It draws on the yarrow-stalk method and Plum Blossom Numerology, combines image-based reasoning and principle-based reasoning, and is valued for timing. Although mature in China, systematic English resources have been scarce.
I Ching Stream provides unified terminology, case-based teaching, and integrated tools, so learners can move from theory to verified practice.
Our North Star
"未学易,先学筮;知易者不占,善易者不卜"
(To learn the I Ching, begin with casting. As your mastery of the Yi deepens, divination becomes optional.)
Team Background
Cross-Cultural Foundation for Authentic Teaching
Our core team brings top-tier academic training, bilingual classical Chinese scholarship, experience in leading global companies, and long-term life across China and the West. We maintain ongoing study with respected teachers.
This cross-cultural foundation allows us to present faithful translations and ESL-friendly instruction that non-Chinese speakers can truly use.
What We Do
Comprehensive Teaching & Tools for Chinese Divinatory Arts
We teach I Ching divination to non-Chinese speakers, centering on Six Lines Divination (Liu Yao, Wen Wang Gua, based on the Na Jia Method), the primary method of I Ching divination in China. We also cover Plum Blossom (Meihua Yishu), Da Liu Ren, Xiao Liu Ren, Qi Men Dun Jia, and fate systems such as Bazi (Four Pillars) and Zi Wei Dou Shu, as well as Feng Shui.
We publish rigorous translations of the classics, provide practical tools and case-based training, and offer an English-language Chinese Perpetual Calendar (万年历, Wan Nian Li) and Chinese Lunar Calendar converter, I Ching casting, and Bazi charting, along with assistive analysis tools that make learning and interpretation easier.
Three Steps from "Begin with Casting" to "Divination Optional"
Your Journey from Seeking to Mastery
Seeking Comfort
readings for reassurance, normal at the beginning
This is where most people begin—seeking guidance and comfort through divination. It's a natural starting point as you learn to trust the process.
Steering Outcomes
spot risks and opportunities, take action, readings as training wheels
As you develop skill, you begin using divination strategically to identify opportunities and navigate challenges, with readings supporting your decision-making process.
Embodied Wisdom
judgment and timing are internalized, consult less and live more, freedom from attachment rather than rejection
The ultimate goal: wisdom becomes part of your natural judgment. You achieve freedom from attachment to divination—not rejection, but transcendence.
Freedom from attachment rather than rejection—this is the path to mastery.
